How do I get started?
The first and most important thing is to read all of the rules and information posts. If you decide to join us, register an account and then you can fill out a character application. Once your character is approved, you are good to roleplay!
Can I just use the spells from the Harry Potter universe?
No, sorry. We have our own set of spells here. Everyone is given a pack of basic spells upon being sorted but you can earn more by attending classes and doing the assignments.
Wait. I have to actually do classwork?
If you want to learn new spells, yes. But our goal is to make it fun. Lessons will usually consist of a single roleplay post and some sort of light challenge.
Can I teach a class?
Sure. We have a few classes in need of professors. You can find the list here. We prefer that you make a student first and get at least 25 in character posts so that we can see your style and make sure you are a good fit for our staff. Also, being a professor is actual work. It means coming up with fun lessons for the students to take part in.
How do I get into my guild hall?
Upon sorting you are given a ring and a password is sent to you via parakeet. To enter your guild hall, you step up to the door and whisper the password to the ring, after which the stone opens up and a tiny, mist-formed version of your guild mascot will come out of the ring and slide into the lock of the door to open it before returning to you.
I want to make sure I end up in the same guild as my friend. How can I do this?
Sorry. Our sorting secrets are our own. I'll give you a hint... it's not based on personality so it won't do any good to make sure you and your friend are so similar you might as well have been separated at birth. If you and your friend don't end up in the same guild, don't worry. There are plenty of places for you to roleplay together, and in your guild you just might make some new friends.
Why can't I put a ginormous graphic in my signature? That sucks!
I know, I know. But here at Spellbound, we have other uses for your signature, such as your wand or items related to forum events. It's also possible that you might get a little surprise in your signature from one of the staff now and then for roleplay purposes. We have a place for you to post all of your amazing graphics in the Character Photo Albums and Journals forum which is located here..
What the heck are Frikkens?
Frikkens are our form of currency here at Spellbound. You can earn frikkens by roleplaying and participating in challenges, and then you can use those frikkens to purchase items in the Frikken Shop. The link is located at the top in your navigation bar. Some items in the shop are just for fun, while others are requirements for certain classes. You can also access your bank, where you can withdraw and deposit frikkens, by clicking the tiny pig in the bottom left corner of your browser. Just like in real life, depositing frikkens into your bank account earns interest.
Is there Quidditch at Kai's?
There will be. Since the school is just reopening, we are going to wait until we have a good number of students before opening sign-ups for the Quidditch teams. Until then, the Quidditch pitch will be used for flying class and after school practice only.
How will classes work?
Professors will post lessons in the classrooms section of the school. A lesson will be available for an amount of time decided upon by that professor. All you have to do is follow the instructions given in that lesson and complete whatever assignment or task is asked of you. Once you have successfully completed the lesson and have been approved by that professor, your spellbook in the Island Registry will be updated to reflect this, and you will have this spell (or potion) available for your roleplay.
