Isaiah Joel Franklin . Liam Payne
17 | seventh | November 9 | Muggle
Due to many years meeting new people at camps and mission trips, Joel has an ease about him when meeting people for the first time. He has a charisma and charm that can get him into or out of trouble depending on the situation. After his father's rejection of him, Joel has come to the realization that no matter what he does, his father, and likely the rest of his family, will never truly accept him simply because of who he is, and after years of trying to live up to everyone else's expectations, Joel is ready to live for himself. He spent his whole life following his parents' strict rules and suppressing himself, but now he wants to experience life in its fullest, especially the things that other teens consider normal.

Joel is the youngest of five children born to Abigail and Jacob Franklin. His parents were the leaders of the local church and were what some might call fanatical in their faith. He was a bit of a surprise to his parents as they had not planned on having another child, and as such is quite a bit younger than his siblings. Joel's older siblings all went into a field where they can spread their faith through mission work or other forms of social services. Joel spent his early years striving to thrive in his sibling's shadows.
While he went with the flow and spent time at church camps and mission trips, Joel never felt that he truly belonged; something was missing. It wasn't until the letter from Michigan Magical Institute came that Joel knew why. He was a wizard in a family of religious muggles. After much resistance, his parents finally allowed him to attend the school, as they realized the school would not accept no as an answer.
For years Joel thrived among those in the wizarding world, feeling that he could finally be himself with no one judging him and finally meeting people who were not extreme Jesus freaks. When the letter from Kai's Academy arrived, Joel was hesitant to leave his school since he had several friends and his family was near.
It was a visit with his parents that sealed his decision to go. His mother had asked how school was going, so he decided to share, something he rarely did since he knew magic talk usually didn't go over so well. And this time was no exception. In the midst of an argument, his father made the statement that there was no way that Joel could be his son, implying that Abigail had to have had an affair, which was not the case.
Seeing the look on his father's face as he looked at him with such disdain, Joel made his decision and was on the morning plane to Kai's Academy.
